Angela Girdley, Ph.D.
Lecturer
Dr. Angela Girdley is a lecturer in the Baylor School of Education’s EdD in Learning and Organizational Change program. She holds a Ph.D. in Education Leadership & Organizational Development (2003) and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration (2002), both from the University of Louisville. She earned a Master of Divinity in Christian Communication from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1989) and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisville (1986).
Dr. Girdley has extensive experience in higher education, serving in various capacities. In addition to serving as teaching faculty, she has also been a director of institutional research, faculty director, IRB member, and dissertation director. Her teaching experience spans multiple institutions where she has taught courses in research methods, higher education administration, and leadership. Her earlier career included over 16 years as a Baptist campus minister and Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Louisville, where she provided spiritual guidance and developed leadership programs for the campus community.
Dr. Girdley’s research interests include compassion fatigue, leadership development, organizational theory, and higher education policy. She has contributed to academic publications such as Pastoral Psychology and the Journal of Psychology and Theology. Her recent works explore the impact of clergy tasks during COVID-19 and the balance between fatigue and satisfaction in compassionate leadership.
Dr. Girdley is also active in academic presentations, having presented at various conferences, including the Mid-South Education Research Association and the American School Health Association. Her work often focuses on the experiences and support needs of care workers in challenging circumstances.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Girdley has authored articles in several publications and has provided leadership in seminar and workshop settings for various organizations and conferences. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys playing music and exploring the outdoors.
